DANTEVILLES - WELCOME TO THE THEATRE

Dantevilles recently released a new 3-track EP entitled Welcome to the Theatreand we are well impressed. If you like dancing and losing yourself in certified good music, then this is the EP for you. Dantevilles done good.

The band explain how with this particular release, they were interested in expressing their personality through sound. The band, now seemingly less in their heads, are showing a fun, unbridled side to themselves. ‘Soundscape’, the first track, introduces us to a looser sound, full of swagger and with just the right amount of bravado to make it a bona fide tune. It’s sometimes the smaller, subtler moments in a song that make them shine, and for me it’s the way that the vocals jilt up at the perfect time that make this track so special. The guitars are also very special on this track, their vibrations creating a sinister drama that pulls you in.

Now we’re in it for the long haul. ‘Save Me A Dance’ is next, and it sounds exactly how you’d imagine from its title. Does what it says on the tin – an absolute bop of a track, enough to make Foals quake in their boots! The very telling refrain, “I don’t think you know just how good you are” sums this band up for us.

‘Confession’ closes the listen. The duel vocals are used most effectively at this point. Mature, polished and poised, ‘Confession’ is a soulful, relaxed end to Welcome to the Theatre but leaves us wanting more. We can’t wait to see what Dantevilles have got up their sleeves for us next.
