FESTIVAL PREVIEW: TRAMLINES (FRI 21 – SUN 23 JULY 2017)
Since Tramlines was first staged in 2009, the festival has established itself as one of the biggest inner-city music festivals the UK has to offer. Sheffield’s shining star has grown from its inception – a 35,000 strong crowd – to attracting more than 100,000 fans last year. With 2017’s massive line up, it’s no doubt that many more music fans will be eager as ever to hop aboard the Tramlines train.
The festival will be taking over the city on 21st-23rd of July this summer with various venues, including four outdoor stages and numerous local bars and warehouses, all in a bid to showcase the most vibrant talents England has to offer. Tickets are only £45 and give you access to an eclectic array of artists across the whole weekend. Likely lads, The Libertines, take to the Main Stage on Friday; picture a 100,000+ strong crowd in a scenic English field screaming along to the triumphant ‘Can’t Stand Me Now’, or ‘Don’t Look Back into the Sun’. The Main Stage will continue to supply ultimate satisfaction as rock ‘n’ roll greats, Primal Scream, will grace audience’s ears with unforgettable anthems like ‘Movin’ on Up’ and ‘Rocks’. Metronomy follow suit – hearing ‘The Look’ on a sunny Sunday will be one to remember, unless those indispensable Dark Fruits haven’t already topped all of us up to the point of no sober return…
You can also catch our good friends, The Garage Flowers, play Tramlines on the Friday. Hopefully they won’t be clashing with The Libertines or we might find ourselves in a sticky situation. We’re also especially excited for The Coral, Spring King, Akala, Cate Le Bon and Cabbage!
Tramlines is also offering a unique extra for any festival goers who just don’t want to stop partying after the festival’s 11pm curfew time. Ticket holders can also purchase an add-on to attend the After Parties. The one and only Mike Skinner will be taking to the decks on Saturday night, carrying sweet beats right on into the early hours of the morning. It sounds perfect if you’re past “cracking open that eight pack with the boys and anxiously hoping the Bluetooth speaker doesn’t run out” phase already.
The festival officials are also in liaisons with their friends at Sheffield City Council, campaigning to try and impose a city-wide Bank Holiday after the festival to spare inhabitants ‘the shame of phoning in sick’ – they know the score!
